Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal judge Mohitul Haque Md Enam Chowdhury on Tuesday delivered the verdict, which acquitted six other accused.

The death-row convicts are Hesham Uddin and ‘Shahid’, both from Chandanaish’s Bainjuri area.

The two are still on the run, said State counsel Md Aiyub Khan.

Six others were let off as the charges levelled against them could not be proved beyond doubt, he said.

The two convicts and several others had hacked one Mansur Ahmed Khan to death in front of his own house at Madhyam Bainjuri on Mar 7, 2010, following a land dispute.

Khan’s brother Md Hares Khan had filed the murder case accusing eight people the next day. Police submitted the chargesheet against the eight three years later, on Sep 1, 2013.

The verdict was based on the testimony of 16 witnesses in court.
