According to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, he would come from Bangkok by a Thai airways flight on Thursday.

He has been the ambassador to Thailand.

Shringla, who hails from the Darjeeling hills of West Bengal, is billed as one of the 'rising stars' in the Indian Foreign Service.

He already vowed to take Dhaka-Delhi ties to ‘a new height’ with the implementation of all commitments in a farewell reception hosted by the Bangladesh ambassador in Thailand in Bangkok for him.

Shringla has held a variety of positions in New Delhi and in Indian Missions in Paris, Hanoi and Tel Aviv in his more than 30 years of diplomatic career.

He has also served as Counsellor in the Permanent Mission of India to the UN in New York and as Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Durban, South Africa.
