Bomb attack in Chuadanga kills three, including woman

The death toll in Monday evening’s bombing incident in Chuadanga has risen to three.

At least three bombs were hurled at a tea-stall in Jiban Nagar Upazila, killing one person on the spot, and leaving three others, including a woman, injured.

Police said 50-year-old Maleka Begum died on Tuesday at the Jessore Medical College and Hospital.

Her husband, ‘Shahbuddin’, had succumbed to his injuries at the same hospital on Monday .

Another injured is currently undergoing treatment there.

The bomb attack in the Upazila’s Gangadaspur had killed a person called Mohammad Ali on the spot.

Police have arrested one Rejaul Golder in connection with the incident.

Jiban Nagar police OC Humayun Kabir said that three to four bombs had been hurled at the tea-stall around 6 in the evening.

Police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack, but locals say a land dispute may have been at the root of it.
