"All the social communication media are being unblocked following a government order," State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim told bdnews24.com on Monday afternoon.
She thanked the young people for bearing with the government when the social media was blocked for security reasons.
BTRC Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood told bdnews24.com that the government was sending necessary instruction to the operators.
"They all will be open shortly," he said.
Facebook, its messaging app, and several other communication apps, including Viber and WhatsApp, were blocked on Nov 18.
The blocking started after the Supreme Court rejected petitions of war criminals Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid to review their death sentences.
In the last clampdown on Sunday night, the government blocked micro-blogging site Twitter, Microsoft Corp's online telephone and video service Skype, and communication app imo.
Facebook Messenger, Viber, WhatsApp, and other communication apps had been still blocked.
