The social networking giant’s reply to the letter sent by State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim came on Tuesday.
The minister said Facebook will send down a senior executive from its Asia Pacific regional office on Dec 6 or 7.
Tarana Halim on Monday sent an email pointing out the adverse effects of Facebook’s misuse in Bangladesh.
“Facebook doesn’t accept that there are many things considered defamatory in Bangladesh. They also often want a case to be filed when someone complains,” Tarana Halim said on Monday.
She said the government needs to sensitise them about Bangladesh’s social context
The government citing state security has blocked Facebook, its messenger app and some other communication apps.
Tarana Halim said there was no link between the email to Facebook and the closure.
