Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Arifur Rahman Mandal has said the five-member panel was formed on Sunday.

Mandal and another ASP, Abdul Jalil, are heading the committee.

The three other members are Assistant Superintendent of Police Headquarters Al Asad Mohammad Mahafuzul Islam, Bogra Detective Branch OC Amirul Islam and Shibganj Police Station OC Ahsan Habib.

Earlier in the day, RAB handed two people detained for questioning over to police.

OC Habib said a makeshift police camp had been set up at Haripur to ensure the security of Shia Muslims in the area.

Three gunmen pumped bullets into the congregation in a mosque in the area during evening prayers last Thursday. The shooting left the muezzin killed. Three others, including the imam, received injuries.

The attack was carried out over a month after explosions in a Shia gathering in Dhaka left one dead.

Police said they had arrested Jama’atul Majahideen Bangladesh activists in connection with the attack in Dhaka.
