Police are yet to confirm how exactly the two died.

The dead have been identified as Krishna Rani Chanda, 26, wife of Constable Parimal Chanda, and their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Arpita Chanda.

Parimal, who is currently posted at Sundarganj Police Station, lives in a rented house in Bamanjal area, said Officer-in-Charge Md Israil Hossain of the police station.

“He went to bed with his wife and daughter on Monday night. When Parimal woke up early in the [Tuesday] morning, he found his child dead but could not see his wife in the room. As he started looking, he found her hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen.”

Neither of the bodies bore any injury marks and Parimal filed a case of unnatural death, the OC added.

The police constable told bdnews.24.com that he had no ‘dispute’ with his wife. “I have no idea why or how this happened.”
