Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was expected to attend the Nov 27-29 meeting, but she cancelled the planned visit at the last moment.

The foreign ministry said Ali, who flew out of the capital on Monday, will also be attending the Pre-CHOGM Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting and other events starting from Nov 25.

The foreign ministers from 52 member states will discuss global political and economic developments and issues of common interest such as implementation of the SDGs, migration, and climate change in the ministers’ meeting.

They will also review the reports to be submitted to the Heads of Government during the CHOGM.

The Commonwealth secretary general, different Commonwealth organisations as well as Commonwealth-associated and civil society organisations submit those reports.

Ali is also expected to have bilateral meetings with some of his counterparts on the sidelines before his return on Nov 30.
