His wife Farhat Quader Chowdhury and son Hummam Quader Chowdhury went to the Bangabhaban on Saturday after BNP leader Salauddin Quader sought Hamid’s mercy admitting to the crimes he committed during the Liberation War.

Farhat Quader waited in the car outside the Bangabhaban while Hummam Quader took the letter titled ‘Petition to the honourable President from Salauddin Quader Chowdhury’ to the reception around 4:30pm.

Bangabhaban’s despatch wing officials turned him back, asking him to follow formal procedures to send a petition to the president through the corresponding ministry.
Earlier, the family had organised a media conference alleging that the trial of the war criminal had not been fair.
They also raised doubts that Salauddin Quader had sought the president’s mercy. They demanded that the convict be given the chance to meet his lawyers.
