Jafran is also a suspect in the murder of Avijit Roy.
CID’s Inspector Arman Ali moved Sylhet metropolitan Magistrate’s Court on Thursday seeking a 15-day remand to question Jafran.
But the court granted police seven days after a hearing, court police’s Assistant Commissioner Abdul Ahad Chowdhury said.
Jafran and 12 others have been shown arrested over Ananta’s murder.
The court has fixed Dec 3 for the next hearing.
Blogger Ananta was hacked to death in front of his house at Sylhet’s Subidbazar on May 12, barely two months after writer-blogger Avijit was killed in a similar attack in Dhaka.
Shahjalal university student Mannan Rahi, one of the suspects in Ananta murder, has reportedly confessed to his crimes before a court.
