Police said the lynching was reported early on Saturday from a village in Pabna's Ataikula area.

The victims are yet to be identified and the bodies have been kept at the Pabna General Hospital.

Ataikula police OC Nur-e-Alam said that police rescued an injured person from the spot and he is being treated at the hospital.

He said the injured person has been identified as ‘Yarul’, who hails from Natore district.

Police suspect he belongs to a gang of cattle-thieves.

According to OC Alam, a group of 8 to 10 thieves entered the village early morning and attempted to steal cows.

“Sensing their presence, the villagers gathered in strength and caught three of them while the others fled.”

Locals beat to death two while the other was rescued by police.
