Bangladesh has witnessed a huge spurt in smuggling of gold, though market analysts say much of the gold coming into the country is smuggled into India.

The demand for gold is continuously rising in India and many in the country's eastern states like West Bengal have been nabbed with huge quantity of contraband gold smuggled from Bangladesh.

As much as 70kg of gold was seized in one such raid by revenue intelligence officials in Kolkata.
