“Another 109 Bangladeshis are still missing,” Ambassador Golam Moshi told bdnews24.com on Friday.

Saudi Arabia says 769 people from various countries were killed in the stampede during the ‘stoning the devil’ ritual but Iran claimed the figure ran into several thousand.

Saudi authorities published pictures of the victims for identification.

The bodies have been kept at a hospital in Makkah.

Hajj officials and agencies began identifying Bangladeshis from the pictures. Many have contacted the religious affairs ministry.

Asked about burial decisions, Ambassador Moshi said, “Most of the victims’ relatives wished them to be buried in Saudi Arabia.”

Earlier, more than a 100 people, including a Bangladeshi, were killed when a crane crashed into Masjid al Haram on Sept 12.
