Derailment snaps Sylhet’s train links with Dhaka, Chittagong

Sylhet’s railway communications with Dhaka and Chittagong have snapped after a coach of inter-city Paharika Express derailed at the northeastern district’s South Surma Upazila.

The incident took place at Parairchak at around 7:20pm on Sunday, said Sylhet Railway Station’s Manager Abdur Razzak.
 
The rescue work was already underway, he said, adding that it would take several hours more to resume train services.
 
There was, however, no casualties, Razzak said.
