Man to die for slaughtering nine-month pregnant sister over property conflict
A Gazipur court has sentenced a 36-year-old man to death for the killing of his sister nearly three and a half years back.

District and Sessions Judge AKM Enamul Haque gave the order on Tuesday.
Convict Md Jahirul Islam Kalu, son of Md Nurul Islam of Barami Village of Sreepur Upazila, was also fined Tk 10,000.
He was found guilty of slaughtering to death his nine-month pregnant sister Farzana Akhter Nargis on the morning of Mar 5, 2012 due to a conflict over the ancestral property.
His sister had come to her parental home only a day before to give birth to her child.
Public Prosecutor Haris Uddin Ahmed said Kalu killed his sister after he was apparently ticked off by his father’s denial to write the property in his name.
Nargis’ husband Assaduzzaman filed a case with Sreepur police on the day of the killing.
The investigation officer pressed charges in the court on May 1 of the same year.
