Michael Dugher MP is the shadow minister for the important UK Department.

“She will be working in the shadow DCMS team to challenge the government and promote a positive Labour message,” a spokesperson for her office told bdnews24.com on Saturday.

Tulip is daughter of Sheikh Rehana, the only sister of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

She was elected to the House of Commons in the last UK elections from a key London constituency.

At the Labour leadership election, Tulip supported Andy Burnham, who has been made Shadow Home Secretary in the Jeremy Corbyn team.

Of the three elected, Tulip is the only Bengali MP named so far for a ‘shadow’ role.

While she was councillor at the London Borough of Camden, she served as the cabinet member for culture and sport.

Tulip’s appointment as PPS puts her on the ladder towards the shadow cabinet.
