bdnews24.com’s online platform for youths, ‘Stripe’, has gone live and can be accessed at stripe.bdnews24.com.

Stripe is run by editors Hammad Ali, Nuhash Humayun, Rashad W Lateef, Sajid Sarker, and Zaian F Chowdhury, collectively the core team.

“We’re an online platform for entertainment, youth culture, bold voices, and lifestyle choices,” said Sajid Sarker, a core team member, as the site was launched on Monday evening.

Stripe is a youth-based facet of bdnews24.com, Bangladesh’s largest news publisher, and holds itself to the boldness and high standards of journalistic integrity that bdnews24.com is known for, says the management of bdnews24.com.

“A stripe, by definition, is a continuous band that is different from its surroundings in either colour, texture or form,” says Nuhash Humayun of the core team.

“A stripe is bold, has direction and distinguishes itself from everything around it, much like the youth of the nation the site caters to.”

Adds Hammad Ali, the editor: “Stripe aims to entertain its readers while also engaging them with relevant and useful information, eventually instilling a greater sense of awareness and critical thinking in the nation’s youth.”

Nuhash says the facet of bdnews24.com, Bangladesh’s pioneering Internet publisher, will use the word platform ‘very deliberately’.

“Here at Stripe, you’re on the spot. We want you informed, aware and entertained – your voice and opinions, as opposed to us being just an authoritative voice,” says Nuhash, speaking on behalf of the Stripe team, in a mission statement.

"The journey begins,” tweeted bdnews24.com Editor-in-Chief Toufique Imrose Khalidi announcing the launch of the new sub-site.

“Led by some of the brightest of young minds in Bangladesh, it will, I am sure, take us into uncharted territories and to all corners of the map. I am proud of these pioneers!" he says on his Facebook page.

Stripe will have such sections as Entertainment, Food, Polka, and YoungBlood.

“YoungBlood will be a safe place to build a healthy rapport with readers, allowing them to raise their voices and share their opinions,” says the team.

Polka will cover photo-stories, life-hacks, and fashion and lifestyle advice.

Stripe will be fully accessible and responsive on desktops, tablets, and mobile, delivering a rich media experience at launch and a strong social media presence on Facebook (facebook.com/thestripe24), Twitter (@thestripe24), and Instagram (@thestripe24).
