Sharma, who paid a courtesy call on Hasina at the Ganabhaban on Saturday, informed her about the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Malta in November.
Queen Elizabeth II, the head of Commonwealth, will inaugurate the meeting.
Sharma told Hasina that the meeting would have a special session on climate change, prime minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told reporters.
The prime minister called for creating a fund to combat climate change challenges.
It would also have the first ever Women’s Forum, he quoted the Commonwealth secretary general as saying.
They also discussed migration and terrorism issues.
The prime minister said her government was trying its best to combat terrorism.
She added that her government was working to strengthen democracy and democratic institutions.
“We believe in the uninterrupted flow of information,” Karim quoted her telling Sharma. “The media in Bangladesh is enjoying full freedom.”
