The picture was much like that on Tuesday in Malibagh, Mouchak, Razarbagh, and Shantinagar areas.

The intensity of Wednesday’s rain was, however, less compared to Tuesday’s torrential downpour.

The Met office said there was 36mm of rain in Dhaka between 6am and 6pm on Wednesday. In contrast, 40mm of rainfall was recorded in just three hours on Tuesday.

People were seen wading through knee-deep water amid rain at Dhanmondi, Mirpur Road, Manik Mia Avenue, Karwan Bazar and Farmgate.

The alleys were also inundated.

Dhanmondi resident Hafiz Al Asad said he was going to office fully drenched.

One side of the street from Karwan Bazar to Farmgate was waterlogged, resulting in slow traffic movement and, consecutively, congestion.
Many got off the vehicles they were travelling in and chose to walk on Mirpur Road and Manik Mia Avenue because of the traffic jam.
Traffic police struggled to control the situation, as many vehicles took the wrong lane to avoid the traffic tangle.
Many alleged that people were receiving electric shock while passing electric poles. The power authority, DESCO, was, however, unconcerned, they said.
bdnews24.com Sub-editor Tanjir Rahman said he saw the streets at Jurain, Jatrabarhi, and Sayedabad waterlogged.
“The street from Mishtir Dokan area at Commissioner Road to Chairmanbarhi has gone under knee-deep water,” he said.
Bus passenger Abdul Aziz at Razarbagh said around noon that he had boarded a bus at Saidabad two hours back.
It was, however, a bountiful day for some rickshaw-pullers at Shantinagar. They were happy to charge Tk 5 to 20 for a two-minute ride.
