Chittagong Bar Association’s former general secretary Ashok Kumar Das said he received the SMS at around7:34am on Wednesday.

The message also said the next targets were war crimes tribunal’s prosecutor Rana Dasgupta and Ekushey Award-winning social science teacher and Premier University Vice-Chancellor Anupam Sen.

“The SMS was sent from 01876214694, but the number switched off when called back,” Das told bdnews24.com.

The SMS reads: “Mr. You and your family are our target from tomorrow. Dr Anupam Sen/Rana Dasgupta, you all are Indian agent. Ansarullah Bangla Team.”

Chittagong court’s Additional Public Prosecutor Chandan Biswas received a similar SMS on his phone a minute after Das.

The text message named Sen and Dasgupta as the ‘next targets’.

He lodged a complaint over the matter, said Kotwali police OC Jasim Uddin.

Biswas is the assistant secretary of the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council.

“I called the number after receiving the SMS but found it switched off,” he told bdnews24.com. “I’ve filed a complaint with the Kotwali police.”

Banned militant outfit Ansarullah is suspected to be behind the killing of secular bloggers in recent months.

In June, the group allegedly threatened the then State Minister for Home, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, two weeks after issuing death threats to several eminent people, including the Dhaka University vice chancellor.
