Peruvian national trying to smuggle in 1.8 kg cocaine detained in Dhaka airport

Shahjalal International Airport authorities have seized nearly two kilogrammes of powdered cocaine from a passenger flying in from Peru.

The man was held from the immigration area in a joint drive of the Immigration Police and Department of Narcotics Control on Tuesday morning. 

The department’s Deputy Director Md Jafarullah Kajal told bdnews24.com they had got a tip-off about the Peruvian national in the flight of Emirates Airlines from Dubai which touched down around 8:30am. 
He added they were going to take legal steps and were working to find out the haul’s street value. 
According to prices in Peru’s black market, it is worth around $8,100. 
Recently a large haul of liquidated cocaine mixed with sunflower oil was seized from Chittagong port. 
The consignment came from Peru’s neighbouring country, Bolivia.
