Dhaka Metropolitan Police spokesperson Muntasirul Islam said the raid was conducted by the Detective Branch on Monday night.

“Fake currency denoting Tk 12 million and various equipment and supplies for counterfeiting were recovered from them.”

The deputy commissioner said they would provide a detailed briefing later.

Counterfeiting syndicates target festivals like Eid, when there is a large exchange of money, to circulate their fake notes.

During Eid-ul Azha, police set up fake currency detection measures at the cattle markets.
