Court sentences three to death for murder of schoolboy in 2000

A trial court has ordered death for three persons in the murder of a schoolboy.

Judge Abdur Rahman Sardar of Dhaka’s Fourth Speedy Trial Tribunal gave the verdict on the killing of Dhanmondi Ideal Memorial School student Ammar Shamsi.
Ziaur Rahman, ‘Alamgir’ and Salah Uddin were found guilty by the court for the murder in 2000.
The verdict was delivered in presence of the three convicted.
They have been also fined by Tk 20,000 each, said Prosecutor Mahfuzur Rahman Likhon.
On Oct 16, 2000, Amman Shamsi were abducted by his ‘friends’, who demanded ransom from his father over phone.
Shamsi’s body was found three days later from the Gazipur National Park.
