6 killed after tin-laden truck turns turtle in Comilla

Six construction workers have been killed and five others injured after the truck , they were travelling on, turned turtle in Comilla’s Kotbarhi.

The accident took place at Nandanpur on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway around 2:45am on Monday, Comilla Fire Services Deputy Director Farid Ahmed said. 

“The vehicle loaded with tin sheets was heading for Dhaka from Chittagong. The driver lost control and the vehicle overturned killing the six on spot,” he said quoting locals.

The deceased Shahid Mia, 32, ‘Fazlu’, 40, Jahid Mia, 42, Anwar Mia, 38, ‘Shafiqul’, 28, and Geru Mia, 32 all hailed from Kholahat village of Gaibandha’s Gabindaganj.

The injured were admitted to various hospitals close to the accident site.

Fire service personnel cleared the area for traffic to resume.

The bodies were taken to Mainamati Highway Outpost and the truck was also taken there, he added.
