Recognising the need to take into account end-users’ opinions, the online news portal will allow quite a large group of users of the internet and social media – chosen from across society – to put forward their views to the high-level panel.
The conversation will be broadcast live on Ekattor TV and bdnews24.com.
Internet users are growing by the minute in Bangladesh, with the government reaching ICT services to the far reaches of the country.
Telecoms regulator BTRC puts the number of mobile-phone internet users in Bangladesh at around 46.9 million until June and they make up 97 percent of the total internet users.
The number is 10.5 million more than what it was a year ago.
The total number of internet users was around 48.35 million until June.
The government considers ICT as one of the most important elements to build a digital-savvy nation and the internet being a major plank.
The roundtable discussion is going to be held in the context of widely reported incidents of abuse and harassment on and through the internet.

More and more users are getting vulnerable to cybercrimes and suffering data breach in evolving cyber social reality.

The threats have put safety in cyber society at the forefront of strategic priorities.
