They were arrested during a raid on Friday night from the capitals’ Shahbagh and Gabtali areas, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) spokesperson Muntasirul Islam told bdnews24.com.

Two people were rescued during the raid, who the police say had been lured by the organ traders to sell their kidneys.
“They are involved in cross-border trade of human kidneys. Two people were rescued from them just when they were ready to sell their organs,” said DMP Deputy Commissioner Islam.
The five, who have been detained, are Abdul Jalil, Shakil Ahmed, ‘Rabbi’, ‘Dihan’ and Ashiqur Rahman.
Detective Branch (DB) produced them before the media at a press conference on Saturday.
“Jalil is the leader of this gang. He collects clients from across the country and sell their kidneys in Bangladesh as well as in India,” DB Senior Assistant Commissioner Mahmuda Afroz told reporters.
Jalil told bdnews24.com that he sold one of his kidneys in 2011 and the surgery was done in India.
He got involved in the trade after that. He got Tk 50,000 for each kidney traded.
