Three madrasa girls die, 20 injured after being electrocuted in Naogaon

Three students of a girls’ madrasa in Naogaon have been killed in electrocution and 20 others injured.

Witnesses said the victims of the tin-roofed two-storey residential madrasa at Manda touched an electric wire linked to the institution ‘illegally’.

Authorities of the Satihat Tamij Uddin Chawkder Shishu Sadan O Mohila Hafezia Madrasa could not be found for comments.

Two of the deceased were identified as ‘Rabeya’, 12, from Srirampur village, and Asha Meem, 14, from Durgapur village.

The injured were admitted to Manda Upazila Health Complex.

Upazila Executive Officer Saifur Rahman Khan said the incident would be investigated.
