The three-year project would be implemented in 14 factories in Dhaka, Gazipur and Savar initially.

According to a statement, the project would be a bridge between the local NGO clinics and the factory so that workers get health services when they need, particularly during pregnancy and delivery.

It will be a “business model”.

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki was present as chief guest at the opening of the project on Tuesday.

Labour Secretary Mikhail Shipar, and chargé d'affaires of the Netherlands embassy Martine Van Hoogstraten were also present.

Workers safety and rights issue came to the fore in Bangladesh after the Rana Plaza building tragedy in April 2013.
