She made the call when Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Conference Iyad Ameen Madani visited her at her office on Sunday.

Her Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed the media after the meeting.

The prime minister regretted infighting among Muslims countries, saying it was “very unfortunate as Islam teaches us to be tolerant”.

Also, terrorist activities in Muslim countries gave others the scope to take undue advantages, she said.

Hasina added that religion should not be brought up when dealing with terrorists.

The prime minister strongly condemned terror attacks on a Saudi Arabia mosque, saying Islam never supported such acts.

She emphasised resolving conflicts between Muslim countries through talks.

She also underscored science and technology-based education while discussing the OIC’s role in the education sector.

Hasina spoke about the glorious history of Muslim researchers, who “were pioneers of science-based education and scientific research”.

The prime minister told the OIC chief that her government had established a number of universities to promote science and technology and ICT-based education in Bangladesh.

Madani said the basic philosophy of the organisation was to integrate the Muslim countries and Bangladesh was always at the forefront of OIC activities.

Madani invited the prime minister to attend the next OIC summit to be held in Istabul.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and Principal Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad were present at the meeting.
