He is in Kashimpur Prison on a number of cases over mayhem during agitation.

Justices Naima Haider and Mustafa Zaman Islam gave the order on Wednesday based on the BNP leader’s Sunday plea asking for a ruling citing his health concerns including diabetes and high blood pressure.

It also ruled asking respondents including the home minister, health secretary, Dhaka deputy commissioner and senior jail superintendent, why steps should not be taken for better medical treatment for him.

Rizvi’s lawyer Sagir Hossain Leon said they  have been given four weeks to respond.

Rizvi, picked up on Jan 31 amidst countrywide agitations by the opposition party, was shown arrested in 19 cases.

He was granted bail in 17 of them from the High Court while two are still pending with the Appellate Division.
