He told bdnews24.com on Friday night, “I have discussed the matter with IGP and the relevant people. We will catch the killers.”

Suspected al-Qaeda operatives hacked Niloy to death at his flat at North Gorhan in Dhaka around 1:45pm on Friday.

Police found similarities in this murder with the previous killing of bloggers.

Three other internet blog site writers and online activists were murdered in the past five months.

The law enforcers suspected religious extremist groups were behind the murders but could not solve any of the cases.

Yet the minister asserted that killers would be brought to justice.

“Every team has already hit on the ground.”

Locals had held two assailants from the scene of Oyasiqur Rahman Babu’s murder in Dhaka on Apr 30.

Police also arrested a photojournalist of a Sylhet daily over the killing of Ananta Bijoy Das and an extremist online activist Farabi Shafiur Rahman over the murder of writer and blogger Avijit Roy.

Apart from those arrests, investigations into the killings have apparently run into a dead end.

The Al-Qaeda in Indian Sub-continent (AQIS) has claimed responsibility for the murders.

Its Bangladesh unit, Ansar Al Islam, claimed credit for murder of Niloy.

Asked for his comment, the home minister told bdnews24.com he learnt about the matter from this correspondent.

He said he would discuss it with relevant authorities and ask them to seriously look into it.
