“If the family members of Felani approach us, we will definitely take up the matter with the BSF,” said BGB Director General Maj Gen Aziz Ahmed in New Delhi on Thursday.

Maj Gen Ahmed was talking to a selected group of media persons on the sidelines of the BSF-BGB Border Co-ordination Conference.

A government official present in the meeting told bdnews24.com that both Maj Gen Ahmed and BSF Director General DK Pathak had informally discussed the Felani issue.

“Final report is yet to come to us,” said BSF DG Pathak.
Earlier, in July, a special BSF court in West Bengal’s Cooch Bihar district had acquitted Constable Amiya Ghosh of murder charges.
BSF constable Amiyo Ghosh was the prime accused in the killing of the 15-year-old Bangladeshi girl, Felani Khatun.
In January 2011, Felani and her father Nuru Mia were trying to cross barbed wire fence when she got entangled in it. And she was subsequently killed in BSF firing.
Several human rights bodies including Ain O Salish Kendra and Amnesty India have already taken up the Felani case. The human rights organizations have vouched to bring “justice” to Felani’s family.
