Spokesperson of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muntasirul Islam told bdnews24.com that two persons identified as ‘Bappy’ and ‘Sagor’ were arrested on Monday afternoon from Narayanganj.

With the latest arrest, so far six persons have been apprehended in connection with the July 23 incident.

The others arrested are Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Magura unit Vice-president Sen Suman, Nazrul Islam, Suman Mallik and ‘Sobhan’.

Mallik owns a teashop and Sobhan a general store in the area, where the clash took place.

A man named Abdul Momin was killed during the clash on July 23 while stray bullets left 34-week pregnant Najma Begum, and one Miraz Hossain injured.

Doctors performed a surgery on Najma to save the child the same night.

Two days later, the baby girl was transferred to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

A bullet had passed through the right side of the child’s body but did not damage any vital organ, doctors there said.

On Saturday, doctors at the DMCH said the child was making remarkable recovery.
