NHK’s Watanabe presents Hasina Japanese version of ‘The Unfinished Memoirs’ of Bangabandhu

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been presented with a copy of the Japanese version of "The Unfinished Memoirs" of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Kazuhiro Watanabe, Chief Programme Director, Bangla Section, of Japan Broadcasting Corporation, NHK, who translated the book, handed it to her at her office on Sunday.

Watanabe is an eminent Bangla language expert in Japan.

The Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ehsanul Karim later told reporters said a prestigious Japanese Publishing House Ashahi Shoten published the Japanese version of the book.

Hasina thanked Watanabe for taking up the big task of translating the 600-page book from Bangla.

She said the Japanese version of the memoirs would allow the Japanese people to understand the Bengalis and the nation’s founding father.

The prime minister also expressed gratitude to the publishers for publishing the book in short time.

She mentioned that two note books written by Bangabandhu while in jail after announcing the 6-Point demands were found recently. 

Watanabe, who arrived in Dhaka on Friday, also gave her another copy of the book for Sheikh Rehana, the younger daughter of Bangabandhu.

He recently floated Japan-Bangladesh Society in Tokyo.
