Fifty-eight passengers on board the Dhaka-bound flight from Dubai were left stranded after the incident on Saturday morning.

They were sent to Dhaka in a different flight later in the afternoon, Airport Manager Hafiz Ahmed said.

The Biman flight had landed at the airport around 7:15am.

Ahmed said the bird got trapped inside the right engine of the plane parked in the terminal around 7:45am, only minutes before the aircraft was to take-off for Dhaka.

“The engine was disabled as four blades were damaged in the mishap.”

Of the 58 passengers, 39 had come from Dubai and the rest was supposed to board the flight in Sylhet.

Hafiz Ahmed added that engineers from Dhaka had arrived later in the day to repair the engine.
