He conveyed this to Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali and State Minister Md Shahriar Alam on Thursday when he met them separately.

Watanabe presented his credentials on July 16.

Dhaka and Tokyo have been maintaining close relations since Bangladesh’s birth in 1971.

Japan helped rebuilding Bangladesh with its development cooperation, trade, and investment.
The relations moved towards a “comprehensive partnership” when both prime ministers went for exchange visits last year.
The foreign minister said the relations would be strengthened when decisions taken by the two leaders are implemented.
The ambassador said the number of Japanese companies in Bangladesh had increased to 240 recently. They are investing in the clothing, food and fisheries, motorcycle and toy industries.
He said he would work to make investment process ‘easier’, according to a foreign ministry statement.
