The incident reportedly took place on Thursday night at Uttara, barely two months after a girl of Garo tribe was gang-raped in a moving microbus in Dhaka.

Police have detained four men over the incident.

The 17-year old is at the One Stop Crisis Centre (OSCC) at the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

Her brother-in-law said she worked as a salesperson at a department store at the Rajlakshmi Complex.

Quoting the victim, he said her colleague ‘Arif’ and two others forced her to an under-construction building and took turns to violate her.

OC Ali Hossain of Uttara West Police Station said four men, including a security guard of the building, were detained for questioning.

He said the girl came down crying and told the security guard that Arif was pulling her clothes.

“She did not say anything about rape,” Hossain said, adding that the security guard called a rickshaw and sent the girl home.

The victim’s relative claimed she jumped off the first floor after the incident and received injuries to her head and waist.

But OC Hossain said the girl did not jump but took the stairs.

Dr Bilkis Begum of the OSCC told bdnews24.com there was no injury mark on the girl’s head but she was not sure if the girl suffered injuries to her hip.

OC Hossain claimed the victim had a “relationship” with alleged rapist Arif, but her brother-in-law said otherwise.

She came to Dhaka from Barisal to live with her sister’s family after passing SSC exams and took job as a salesperson in May.

Her relatives initially took her to the DMCH on Thursday after she told them that she was injured.

There, she told doctors about being raped and later, police were informed.

The OSCC’s Dr Begum said the girl would undergo forensic tests on Saturday.

OC Hossain said they were investigating the incident.

“We’re looking for Arif,” he said. “We’ll know about his accomplices once we get him.”
