Elephant herd tramples two to death in Rangamati

A herd of elephant has trampled to death two persons and injured another at Rangamati’s Langadu Upazila.

The incident occurred at Shiber Aga in the Upazila’s Bagchattar Union on Wednesday night, UP Chairman Abdul Gaffar Choudhury said.  
 
The deceased were Mozzamel Haque (30) and Nurul Haque ((50).
 
Injured Jasim Uddin has been admitted to the local health centre.
 
Gaffar Choudhury told bdnews24.com that a group of wild elephants entered human habitations in search of food on Wednesday night.
 
The victims were trampled by the rampaging elephants when they came out of the house in a bid to escape to safety.
 
He said Union Parishad gave financial assistance for the burial of the two.
