3 die, six missing in Brahmanbarhia boat mishap

Three persons have died and at least six others are reportedly missing after a passenger boat sank at at Brahmanbarhia’s Sharail amid inclement weather.

Sarail administration chief Muhammad Emran Hossain said the mishap occurred around 10.30am on the Chetra River.
 
The deceased have been identified as Abdul Kahar, 50 and Fatima Begum, 45 and her two-year-old daughter Shefali Akhter.
 
Identities of the missing persons were not known immediately.  
 
Quoting locals Hossain said the ill-fated passenger boat was going to Ranidia village of Sarail Upazila from Odail Bazar when the mishap occurred.
 
Three bodies were recovered after the accident. Many other passengers, however, managed to swim to safety.  
 
It could not be ascertained how many passengers were on board. But UNO said at least six persons were missing.
