BSF kills Bangladesh national at Naogaon borders

A Bangladesh national was shot dead on Monday by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) near Naogaon, a Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) official said.

Naogaon-based BGB 14 Battalion CO Lt Col Rafiqul Hasan said that the shooting was reported at around 5am at Adhatala border in Shapahar Upazila.

The dead man has been identified as Jahurul Haque, 35 and locals said he was involved in cross-border cattle trading.
Lt Col Hasan told bdnews24.com that Haque along with 10 to 12 others entered Indian territory during the night. The BSF shot at them while they were returning in morning and Haque died on the spot.
“We have contacted the BSF to return the body. They informed us that it would be sent back after completion of legal formalities, which might take time,” said the BGB official.
