The Awami League MP had been slapped with a 13-year prison term and Tk 50 million fine during the emergency rule in 2008.

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) had charged him with the illegal ownership of property worth around Tk 3 million.

The High Court had overturned the verdict in October 2010 following an appeal by Maya.

The ACC then went to the Supreme Court, which quashed the High Court verdict and ordered a fresh hearing.

Justices Bhabani Prasad Singha and SM Mozibur Rahman have now scheduled the rehearing the top court had ordered in 2014, said ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan on Sunday.

There is speculation whether Maya will be able to remain a minister and an MP if the appeals court upheld the sentence.
