All those killed — four men and three women — were passengers of the microbus.

Two of the injured were passengers of the bus named ‘Ashik-Sagar’.

Kashiani police OC Monirul Islam said that the bus hit the microbus, parked on the side of the road in the opposite direction, killing one on the spot.

The others died after being taken to the Kashiani Upazila Health Complex.

Five of the dead were identified as microbus driver ‘Hanif’ from Faridpur, Babu Sheikh, Mijanur Rahman, Mehedi Begum and ‘Tania’.

The injured were taken to the local hospital and two of them were later shifted to the Faridpur Medical College and Hospital, OC Islam said.

Microbus passenger ‘Palash’ of Ikrail village in Faridpur said, “The microbus had taken 14 passengers from Kalna Ghat at Kashiana and was heading towards Mawa Ghat.”

The dead bodies are at the Upazila Health Complex.
