They have been identified as Md Mosleh Uddin and Ariful Karim Siddique.

Uddin hailed from Chinpur village under Lakhai Upazila in Habibganj, while Siddique was from Lohalia village of Rahamatpur Union in Barisal’s Babuganj Upazila.

They were killed on Tuesday in an IS militant attack in Ajdabiya, people known to the victims informed the families over telephone.

The bereaved families have appealed to the government to make arrangements to bring the bodies back.

The news of Uddin’s death in the hands of the IS militants had plunged the family into gloom, Rafiz Mia, chairman of the Dantmandal Union Parishad, told bdnews24.com , quoting members of the family.

Md Rafique, a Bangladeshi expatriate in Libya, had called to inform the family, said Mia.

Uddin used live in the Libyan city of Al Kufrah, his elder brother Md Motalib said.

“He was shot when he had gone to Ajdabiya during the Eid holiday with Ariful Siddique of Barisal and other friends.”

Siddique’s family learnt of his death from his friend Bullar Mia, a Jamalpur man, now in Libya.

Siddique had gone to Libya five years ago to raise family earnings, said his younger brother Anisur Rahman.

His mother Rabeya Begum said Siddique, her second son, had spoken to her on Monday.
