Interpol’s Bangladesh National Central Bureau (NCB) officials said all information about the incident would be sent to Saudi Arabian NCB in a day or two after translating them into Arabic for his extradition.

Dhaka NCB Assistant Inspector General Mahbubur Rahman told bdnews24.com that Saudi Arabia NCB had informed Bangladesh of Islam’s position.

“Riyadh and Dhaka NCBs are maintaining regular contacts. Efforts are being made to bring him back as soon as possible,” he said.

“Translation of all information about the incident into Arabic is going on now. They will be sent to Riyadh,” he added.

Asked about the next steps, Rahman said a decision on that would be made in consultation with Riyadh.

Islam, an expatriate Bangladeshi living in Saudi Arabia, fled to Jeddah after allegedly beating Rajan to death on July 8 at Sylhet’s Kumargaon.

He was taken into police custody in Jeddah by local law enforcers after the Bangladesh embassy sought their help.

Police chief AKM Shahidul Hoque earlier told reporters that Bangladesh would seek Interpol help for Islam’s extradition.

Police have already arrested 11 people, including the four named in the case, over the Rajan murder. Three of them have given confessional statements to court.

One of the suspected assailants filmed the whole torture incident and later released it on the internet. The 28-minute video clip created a furore on the social media.
