Abdul Ahad, Assistant Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, confirmed bdnews24.com of the development on Monday evening.

He said Mia had issued a confessional statement before the metropolitan magistrate in the afternoon.

The court ordered him into jail.

Rajan, 13, was clubbed to death on July 8 in Sylhet on charges of trying to steal a rickshaw van.

The killers captured the incident on the mobile phone and circulated it on the internet, triggering a huge uproar.

Mia has been accused of masterminding Rajan’s killing.

The boy’s relatives alleged Mia was a paedophile, who staged the whole thing failing to have his way with Rajan.

Police have so far arrested 11 people over the murder.

Locals turned Mia over to police on July 14. A court later granted police a week to interrogate him.
