But none from Bangladeshi enclaves wants to return to Bangladesh, Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner Habibur Rahman said on Monday.

The two countries resolved the outstanding issue during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Dhaka visit last month.

A 10-day census was run in the enclaves from July 6.

Representatives of the two sides met on Monday afternoon at Cooch Behar’s Changrhabandha.

About 40,000 people live in 111 Indian enclaves while 51 Bangladeshi enclaves have about 14,000 residents.

Those who want to go to India will be allowed to cross the border from Aug 1 until Nov 3.

But which border post they will be allowed to use was not decided, DC Rahman said.

“Of the enclave residents, 779 have expressed interest to go to India but none from the Bangladeshi enclaves showed any interest to come here,” he told bdnews24.com.
