She took her sons ‘Nishad’ and ‘Ninit’ with her on Sunday to the resort Humayun had built for himself in Gazipur.

There were no other programmes except recitations from the Quran and prayer at the grave by students of a local orphanage.

Humayun's brothers, Prof Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and Ahsan Habib, and sisters Sufia Haider, Mamtaz Shaheed, and Roksana Ahmed offered prayers beside the grave.

Shaon told reporters that her husband, who died from cancer, had wished to set up a cancer hospital.

"We also cherish the dream, but I alone do not have the wherewithal to do that. It requires the many people's efforts. I am trying," she said.

She urged everyone, including the government, to make her husband's dream true.

Members of Himu Paribahan, an organisation of fans of Humayun's character Himu, also visited the grave wearing yellow panjabis and blue sarees, the clothes Himu likes.

They distributed leaflets to raise awareness about cancer.
