The Tigers sealed the series against South Africa with a thumping nine-wicket victory in the third ODI at Chittagong’s Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Wednesday.
It earlier shocked Zimbabwe, Pakistan, and India.
“I hope Bangladesh cricket team will continue the winning streak,” President Hamid said in a congratulatory message.
He thanked the players, coach, and the backroom stuff.
It was Bangladesh’s first ever series win against the Proteas and also first against any team after losing the opener.
Quoting the prime minister, her Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan said, “Bangladesh cricket team have proved that hard practice brings good result.”
Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Raushon Ershad also greeted the Tigers, her press aide Mamun Hasan said.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, too, did not miss the opportunity to congratulate the team on the occasion.
