The foreign ministry said he would be leaving Dhaka soon, ending his more than nine years in the city as in charge of Palestine's mission.

As a longest serving ambassador, he was the Dean of Dhaka’s Diplomatic Corps. He joined in February, 2006.

Bangladesh has always strongly supported the cause of an independent State of Palestine.

The ambassador expressed his gratitude for that to the foreign minister on Tuesday.

The foreign ministry said he hoped Bangladesh would continue its support to the ‘just cause’ of Palestinians.

He also thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for giving facilities to train Palestinian military officials in Bangladesh.
The foreign minister congratulated him on his “successful” Dhaka mission and said he would be remembered for long for his active involvement as a Dean of Diplomatic Corps.
