BGB held Hiron Mia alias Killer Hiron early on Tuesday morning near the Indian border at Brahmanbarhia’s Bishnupur Upazila.

BGB 12 Battalion chief Lt Col Nazrul Islam said the force made the arrest following requests from Mymensingh’s superintendent of police.

“He was caught just 100 yards off the Bishnupur border while he was trying to flee to India,” said the BGB official.

With the latest arrest, four suspects have been held so far in connection with the killing of four persons.

The three arrested earlier are Khokan Mia, Harun Ur Rashid and Ali Akbar—all of them neighbours of those murdered.

“Hiron Mia is the nephew of the prime suspect Lal Mia”, Nandail police’s Sub-Inspector Murad Ali Sheikh told bdnews24.com.

On July 3, Bela Hossain, and his three sons ‘Farid’, ‘Himel’, and ‘Pavel’, were hacked to death allegedly by his brother Lal Mia and his accomplices on Friday night following a dispute over land.

Hossain’s other son Rubel Mia filed a case the next day, accusing Lal Mia and Kamal Hossain along with six to eight unidentified people. The police arrested Khokan Mia the same day.

The two others were arrested the following day.
